Whether you serve in a career capacity or an auxiliary capacity your input is integral to the success of Island Ignite. We have women from all ranks and divisions on our team of volunteers helping to make Island Ignite an incredible experience. Our goal is to show our youth participants the many and varied opportunities offered in the fire service.
To be considered for participation as a Mentor please reach out to our 2025 Volunteer Coordinator, Jenny Reid at jenny.reid@Islandignite.com
Note: Instruction Opportunities may be limited based on the Host Department's requirements for equipment and apparatus operation and certain liability issues associated with municipal governance.
***Please note that priority may be shown to IAFF career female firefighters and host department members due to our reliance on the BCPFFA and the local IAFF members in supporting the successful operation and advocacy for the Island Ignite Mentorship Society.***

If you are a female youth in Grade 11 or 12 living anywhere in mainland British Columbia, who is interested in a program like Island Ignite, we encourage you to visit the Camp Ignite Mentorship Program. They offer a similar program to ours which operates in the Greater Vancouver area once annually. Like Island Ignite, the program is made possible through the hard work of volunteer fire service women who want to ignite possibilities for youth in our province!
Note that while our programs are similar in many ways they each operate independent of each other as separate and unique organizations with their application process and timeline.
Creston Valley Fire Departments are excited to welcome participants to experience a fun filled weekend of skills and team building with women in the Fire Service. Join us in a safe, inclusive, environment to see if firefighting is a career for you.
Note that while our programs are similar in many ways they each operate independent of each other as separate and unique organizations with their application process and timeline.
